| Legislation to prohibit contact lens manufacturers from establishing a minimum price for contact lenses, AB 789, missed a key legislative deadline and can no longer be considered this year. While COA is glad that this bill is dead, we anticipate the bill's sponsor, 1-800 Contacts, will reintroduce the measure in the future. They have commissioned a study to evaluate the impact that UPP policies have had on contact lens prices in an effort to support their arguments. The final day to introduce new legislation this year is February 19. Also, COA will continue to monitor for possible contact lens-related amendments to other legislative proposals throughout the 2016 legislative session. |
