AOA releases directory of accountable care organizations

AOA's Third Party Center has released a national database of more than 700 private and public ACOs. The AOA Directory of Accountable Care Organizations (AOA member login required) is now available as an exclusive benefit for COA-AOA members.

Part of an extensive ACO Resource Toolkit available to members, the directory provides members with 75 California listings that include information needed to take advantage of opportunities with ACO models, including:

  • Contract type, e.g., government, commercial
  • Coverage area
  • Description of the ACO
  • Types of providers included
  • Key contact information
  • Links to more information on the ACO

To access the directory, click here and select “California” from the drop down menu in the box “Accountable Care Organization Search.” From there, click on the ACO entity that interests you.

As doctors know, ACOs consist of groups of health care providers who agree to work together to provide coordinated care to a group of patients. COA and AOA encourage member doctors of optometry to use this directory to identify active ACOs in their regions or markets. It is important to remember that ACO participation decisions are taking place locally and that personal relationships are going to be necessary to gain inclusion.
