AOA and CDC join in campaign to promote contact lens safety
In an historic partnership, AOA has teamed with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to educate the public on the proper wear and care of contact lenses with the CDC's Contact Lens Health Week, August 24-28, 2015.Themed “Healthy Habits Mean Healthy Eyes,” the campaign targets teenage contact lens wearers – though the messages are relevant to all wearers – to encourage healthy habits that start early. CDC has a wide assortment of free patient education materials on safe contact wear and compliance, including toolkits, apps, podcasts and social media messages, printable posters, website buttons and banners, etc. Contact lens health messages cover three key areas:
