Noridian issues provider updates

• Implementation of HIPAA Standards and Operating Rules for Health Care EFTs.
  Informs Medicare contractors that Section 1104 of the Affordable Care Act mandates the adoption of a standard for the Health Care Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT) HIPAA transaction and operating rules for the Health Care EFT and Remittance Advice Transaction that went into effect in September 2013 that impacts all originators and receivers of EFTs to pay health care claims. Read the complete update.
• Functional Therapy Discharge G-code – Clarification. A discharge status G-code is required at the end of the functional limitation reporting period and prior to reporting another medically necessary functional limitation. When the patient ends therapy without notice, prior to the clinician's assessment, CMS encourages the inclusion of a discharge status G-code, whenever possible for the final services. Read the complete update.
• HETS to Replace CWF Medicare Beneficiary Health Insurance Eligibility Queries – Second Revision. CMS will soon be terminating its "Common Working File" (CWF) resource. If you currently use CWF queries to obtain Medicare health insurance eligibility information for Medicare fee-for-service patients, you should immediately begin transitioning to the Medicare Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Eligibility Transaction System (HETS).Read the complete update.
