It’s not too late to register for COA’s Legislative Day at the Capitol

Now is the time to make a difference for optometry. We need as many doctors and students as possible to attend this year's COA Legislative Day in Sacramento on Tuesday, May 13. COA will be using this annual event as a last-minute, all-out lobbying push in support of COA-sponsored SB 492 by Senator Hernandez, which will redefine the practice of optometry. We don't know the exact day the bill will be set for hearing but we do know it has to be voted on by the Assembly Business, Professions and Consumer Protection Committee before June 27. If passed by this committee, it goes on to the Assembly Appropriations Committee and then to Assembly and Senate for floor votes.

 Even if you have already met with your lawmaker about this issue, we need you to reconnect with them again in May. Keep in mind, the opposition may have also made visits during the interim and we need to keep COA message points fresh in legislators' minds.
