AOA Anterior Segment Image Catalog now available

Eye care professionals have another quick-reference clinical tool at their fingertips with a new ophthalmic image catalog now available from the AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section (CLCS).

Accessible via an online database, the Anterior Segment Image Catalog provides all AOA members with clinically reviewed photographs of anterior segment conditions including corneal ulcers, gaping radial keratotomy (RK) incisions and keratoconus, among others. Each image has been reviewed by an expert panel to ensure quality of photography and appropriate diagnosis.

There are plans to expand the catalog. Bart Pemberton, OD, a CLCS member and image catalog work group member, says project administrators are currently collecting photographs. AOA members may submit their own ocular pictures with a brief description of the image(s). Visit the CLCS webpage and click on the Anterior Segment Image Catalog banner portal to access the gallery. Select "upload images" to submit photographs for panel review.

"This is another helpful clinical tool available to AOA members," Dr. Pemberton says, acknowledging the gallery as a culmination of several years' work by CLCS members and the idea of CLCS past-chair Christine Sindt, OD.

The CLCS includes practitioners and optometry students with a passionate interest in the field of contact lens, cornea, anterior segment disease, refractive surgery and related technologies. Find more information here about membership in the CLCS. Read more about the catalog here.
