Continuity of care legislation signed into law
Assembly Bill 369 by Assembly Member Richard Pan, D-Sacramento, was signed into law. The new law ensures patients can complete certain treatments, even when insurance coverage is terminated because of market changes related to the Affordable Care Act. COA supported the bill.
If your patient had an individual health plan policy that was cancelled because of the higher coverage standards under the ACA, this new law allows the patient to continue co-management or other treatments with you even if you are outside of the patient's new provider network.
