SB 492 passes Assembly policy committee; letters to lawmakers urgently needed

COA Member News

Members of the California Assembly are counting the number of letters they receive in support and opposition to SB 492. We need every single doctor of optometry and optometry student to send a letter now and ask their patients, family, staff members, and friends to send a letter as well. Using COA’s pre-formatted automated letter writing system; it should only take a moment to make your voice heard!

The measure must pass the Assembly Appropriations Committee and then be approved by the full Assembly and return to the Senate for concurrence in amendments made by the Assembly before the Legislature adjourns for the year on August 31.

As we enter the final push for SB 492, it is time to harness the strength of our numbers and let your voices be heard! COA is scheduling meetings with your legislators in their district offices on Friday, July 18 and Friday, July 25. Hearing about issues of concern directly from constituent doctors and optometry students carries a great deal of weight with legislators.

Make your voice count - click here to sign up for your Local Legislative Day today (see "COA Local Legislative Days – Support SB 492" in this newsletter)!
