SB 492: Californians continue to be deprived of available, quality eye care

COA Member News

Many doctors and students stepped up to fight this battle. We had more member volunteers for SB 492 than any other legislative fight to date. However, this is wake-up call for our doctors. We’re opposed by legislative powerhouses in the health care field. Organizations such as the California Medical Association, the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and many more are adamant on depriving Californians the quality eye care that doctors of optometry are already qualified to perform.

What does this mean for us?

COA will return to the fight year after year until we have reached our goals at the Capitol. We need every COA member to stand up for their profession. Advocating at the Capitol is only effective if we have the numbers, and frankly, we’re out numbered.

Believe in your profession. Contact the COA Grassroots Manager, Erin Kauffman Taylor, at 916.266.5041 or at ektaylor@coavision.org
