Paraoptometric Materials, Resources Benefit the Entire Practice

Staff knowledge is vital. That’s why an AOA member benefit helps doctors revolutionize the hiring and training of this key component of the care team.

The Paraoptometric Career Ladder offers training and assessment tools to help doctors of optometry and office managers determine needs by providing an efficient and effective tool to train new staff, as well as cross-train seasoned staff, regardless of their current skill level of knowledge.

Using an easy-to-follow, self-paced education roadmap, the career ladder is designed to help paraoptometric staff who work in any of six job responsibilities, including:

  1. Contact lens tech
  2. Optical
  3. Office administration
  4. Insurance processing
  5. Front desk
  6. Technician

This member resource allows doctors and office managers the ability to assess their staff’s skill level and set consistent training goals that can be met via education materials available from the Paraoptometrics/Staff section of the AOA website and AOA Marketplace.
