100 - Modernizing Care for the Delicate Ocular Surface (TPA)

About this course

New knowledge has transformed the way we approach the diagnosis and treatment of ocular surface disease. Real world challenges and comorbidities can complicate the clinical picture and make treatment success difficult. This course will use evidence to get at the subclinical and overt aspects of dry eye that aren’t typically addressed.

Learning Objectives:

   1.  Review key literature from 2018.

   2.  Propose a simple yet comprehensive approach to

101 - Saving Generations of Future Myopic Disease (TPA)

Myopia control is vitally important and yet underutilized in everyday patient care. This course will cover the results of studies from around the world so that interventions can be started early. Resources and effective communication strategies with patients and parents will be shared.

Learning Objectives:

 1.  Knowledge of the optical and pharmaceutical methods

102 – Infectious Disease 101 (TPA)

About this course

Infectious retinal diseases are devastating, as they can to lead permanent visual field and acuity loss. They can be due to a variety of causes including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and can be found not only in immune competent patients, but also, at times more frequently, in immune-comprised patients such as those with advanced acquired immune deficiency syndrome AIDS. Many of these conditions are potentially blinding, therefore early diagnosis, testing, and treatment are vital. This lecture will focus on select conditions that can manifest in the retina with a discussion on pathogenesis, signs symptoms, testing, and treatment.

Learning Objectives:

 1.  Recognize the epidemiology, causes, and pathophysiology
     of varied infectious retinal diseases.
2.   Analyze and contrast  signs and symptoms associated with
     each retinal condition.
3.   Produce an appropriate  management plan based on exam
     results.

103 – Optic Nerve Disorders (TPA) About this course

Optic nerve disorders are infrequently encountered, however clinician must be able to properly diagnose and treat them to prevent unnecessary testing and possible vision loss. This course will review several optic nerve disorders with discussion on differential diagnoses, treatment, and management.

Learning objectives:

1. Introduce several optic nerve disorders with
    discussion on, epidemiology, cause, and
    pathophysiology.
2. Understand, interpret, and distinguish the common signs
and symptoms associated with each condition.
3. Prepare how best to manage these conditions based on
