Mark your calendars for COA’s Local Legislative Days on July 18 and July 25! You don’t have to travel to Sacramento or Washington, DC to be an advocate for optometry; you can lobby your legislator in your own neighborhood!  Advocate for SB 492 with your colleagues by meeting with your legislator and/or staff in their district office.

You can choose which day you would like to participate, July 18 and/or July 25, and COA will schedule your appointment(s) with your legislator(s) as well as provide you with information so you are fully prepared to advocate for the legislation.  Meetings usually last no longer than 30 minutes so taking part in this event will not take too much time out of your schedule!  You will have the option to participate in a webinar prior to your legislative meeting to review the talking points with COA staff and ask any questions you may have.

All California doctors of optometry and optometry students are welcome to participate.  We need as many advocates as possible since our opponents will be working hard in 2014 to defeat our legislation.  Demonstrate the strength of optometry by taking part in the political process through COA’s Local Legislative Days!
